20 September 2009

The talented pianist Evgeny Ukhanov charmed us with his performance of works by Mozart, Bach-F Busoni, Chopin, Rachmaninov, and Balakirev in the first half of the concert. For the second half we were entertained by a brilliant performance of Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’ - a musical representation of ten pictures at a memorial exhibition for the Russian artist Victor Hartmann who died in 1873.

"The Orava String Quartet gave an enthralling recital which left the audience almost breathless. These four young Australian musicians were about to represent Australia in the four yearly Asia-Pacific chamber music competition to be held in Melbourne and broadcast live by ABC FM. Competition comes from China, Japan, Korea and NZ.

The items played were their competition entry, requiring a wide range of technical abilities as well as controlling the more subdued passages.

A welcome afternoon tea was served as usual."

Ambre Hammond: Ambre played with the flair and emotion, one could associate with a South American musician. It was a style we don't usually hear in Australia and was greatly appreciated by those lucky enough to attend.

The Cologne New Philharmonic Orchestra: What a great night! The Vivaldi - The Four Seasons delighted all. and Tchaikovsky - Elegie for String Orchestra brought the house down.

Some Photos from the Opera Groups.... always a very popular afternoon, they love to sing and we love to hear them.

The Strings and Woodwinds..... Very talented artists, who give of their all.

Our Young Performers of the Shoalhaven ..... Such wonderful talent from our young local artists.

Then there are the Groups and Solo Artists..... who provide a wonderful variety of entertainment for us

the photos will be changed periodically...
